W. Scott Railton is an associate attorney with Chang & boos. As licensed member of the Washington State Bar Association, Mr. Railton is an expert in U.S. immigration matters. He has taught U.S. Immigration Law and Policy at Western Washington University, and regularly speaks and writes to a wide variety of audiences concerning business immigration, immigration enforcement, criminality and waivers, and other constitutional matters related to U.S. immigration and border law.
Mr. Railton purposely limits his practice to U.S. immigration law, with an emphasis on procuring immigration benefits for human resource departments, business executives, medical professionals, research scientists, and other specialized professionals and businesses. Mr. Railton also provides legal counsel related to immigration enforcement and issues of admissibility.
An active member of the American Immigration Lawyers Association (AILA), Mr. Railton participates in a variety of professional committees, to stay abreast the most recent developments in immigration law. Mr. Railton has been honored to serve on the Executive Board for AILA Washington. Additionally, he has chaired AILA Washington's Professional Responsibility and Consumer Protection Committee, and vice-chaired the chapter's Advocacy Committee. Mr. Railton is also a member (or past member) of several other professional committees which liaison with federal agencies and Congressional offices, such as U.S. Customs and Border Protection, U.S. Department of Labor, U.S. Department of State, and Congressional Liaison Services.
Mr. Railton has strong ties to Northwest Washington. A magna cum laude graduate of Western Washington University's Huxley College (B.S.), he is a graduate of the University of Washington School of Law (J.D.), where he served on the Executive Editorial Board for the Pacific Rim Law & Policy Journal. Mr. Railton is currently on the Board of Directors for Western Washington University's Alumni Association, an organization serving over 80,000 alumni, and volunteers in a variety of capacities for many other regional organizations which he supports.
Outside the office, Mr. Railton can be found running trails and discovering new outdoor adventures in the Pacific Northwest.
