General Information
Sonal Kothari is an associate attorney with the Toronto office of Chang & Boos. Ms. Kothari is licensed to practice U.S. Immigration Law in the United States as well as in Canada. She was admitted to the practice of law in the State of Illinois by the Illinois Attorney Registration and Disciplinary Commission in 1998 and has been licensed by the Law Society of Upper Canada as a Foreign Legal Consultant since 2004. In addition, Ms. Kothari was admitted to practice law in the Province of Ontario by the Law Society of Upper Canada in 2007.
Ms. Kothari obtained her Juris Doctor (J.D.) from the John Marshall Law School in Chicago, Illinois, in 1998. Prior to that, she obtained a Bachelor of Law (1990) and Bachelor of Commerce (1987) from Bombay, India. She is also a member of the State Bar of Maharashtra and Goa, India.
Ms. Kothari has the advantage of an international background, as she is originally from India, lived in Japan and the United States prior to immigrating to Canada. She is fluent in Japanese, Hindi, and Gujurati. Her international as well as business background is an asset in the practice of immigration law.
Ms. Kothari regularly makes written and oral submissions to immigration offices in the United States and Canada, U.S. and Canadian ports-of-entry, as well as to U.S. and Canadian consulates worldwide. She assists corporate clients in the cross-border as well as international transfer of their executive, managerial, professional and other key personnel. She also assists individual clients in processing their temporary work permits, study permits, permanent residence applications and citizenship claims.
